چکیده
Objective: Thyroid nodule is the most common disease of thyroid gland and closely associated with cancer. The gold standard method in diagnosis Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB). Although relationship between nodules containing microcalcification malignancy well known, there no consensus on relation macrocalcification to adequacy FNAB. In this study, it was aimed compare results FNAB without US examination. Methods: retrospective 466 undergoing 450 patients who applied for biopsy were included study. demographic characteristics patients, features cytopathology Bethesda classification recorded. Nodules divided into two main groups as calcified non-calcified. compared. Results: Transverse sizes found be larger than non-calcified ones (p = 0.003). addition, solid composition, hypoechoic prominent echogenicity, irregular border feature a higher rate group <0.001). No significant difference insufficient sample/non-diagnostic cytology (Bethesda-1) ratios both (19.2% 14.7%). Cytopathologically, number malignant suspected (Bethesda 5 6) (p=0.05). Conclusion: According detection examination does not cause increase results. However, presence increases risk nodule.

Evaluation of results of fine needle aspiration and pathology of thyroid nodules in thyroidectomy Patients
Introduction: The most common manifestation of thyroid malignancy is thyroid nodule. In few studies, pathologic findings of malignancy were seen in patients who were undergone thyroidectomy because of causes other than malignancy. The aim of this study was the evaluation of the rate of malignancy in patients who undergone thyroidectomy. Methods: In this retrospective multi central study, ...

Background: Good cytological sample is very important for the cytological diagnosis of thyroid nodules. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of prepared samples by the combination of aspiration and non- aspiration fine needle biopsy. Methods: In this descriptive – analytical study, sampling was done simultaneously for each patient in fine needle aspiration and non-aspiration biops...

BACKGROUND Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) is a routine diagnostic technique for evaluating thyroid nodules. Many reports in adults consider that FNA is superior to thyroid ultrasonography (USG) and radionuclide scanning (RS). Only five studies have been published on FNA of childhood thyroid nodules. AIMS To investigate the reliability of FNA in the evaluation and management of thyroid no...

The fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies performed on thyroid nodules at Turku University Central Hospital from 1983 to 1988 were reviewed. Of the 1,054 total aspirated nodules, 194 were investigated histologically after thyroid surgery (191 cases) or at autopsy (3 cases). Two cases with an insufficient FNA sample, 4 with an incidental occult papillary carcinoma and 2 cases with carcinoma outs...

A prospective study was carried out of 136 patients with thyroid nodules. In all of the cases, fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology was used in the clinical management. Of the specimens taken, 129 were satisfactory for cytology; 5 were clearly malignant and the diagnosis was confirmed during surgical operation. The diagnosis of follicular neoplasm or "suspicious for malignancy" was made in 29 ...
